This is the least utilised service that we provide and the silly thing is that if more people practiced prevention there would be far fewer back injuries. . .

Back Pain is so common that only 4% of the population get through life without an episode. More work days are lost to back pain than all other causes combined.

Back pain costs insurance/workers comp/health funds etc...more than all other conditions.

Back pain can be, to an extent, prevented.

Common causes are postural and activity related and require no professional intervention. The old saying "prevention is the best cure" is totally accurate when applied to back pain. This page is a tiny little bit of information about a simple process of education that enables huge benefits. We provide a 2 hour workshop with the promise of increasing knowledge and reducing episodes of back pain. For the ridiculously low cost of $25 per person we will educate a minimum of 10 to a maximum of 20 of your staff/team/crew. Your place or ours, this is a seminar that will serve you well.

OUTLINING CAUSE AND PREVENTION OF WORK RELATED BACK INJURIES
A ten point program for optimal spinal health.
  1. Basic spinal anatomy (A quick look around the back)
  2. Injury reduction methods by using simple posture changes
  3. Injury recovery made faster with self-help techniques
  4. Injury prevention stretching and flexibility program
  5. Warm-up exercises (preparing for work or sport)
  6. Spinal workout (Five minute daily exercise routine)
  7. Home care do's and don'ts (common sense rules)
  8. Spinal safety 12 essentials
  9. Awkward Lifting Procedures for difficult situations
  10. Driver's back care rules (any type of vehicle)

This two hour session will create awareness of spinal safety and will teach simple and effective methods of preventing back injury. The incidence of work related back injury is on the increase; this means increased human suffering with consequences that can last for years, lost production and disruption to the efficiency of the workplace, and considerable expense to both the injured employee and the employer.

The usual cause is carelessness or ignorance, oversight or under training.

BACK AT WORK emphasizes responsibility and personal involvement in back safety, we teach "prevention", and we assess every employee individually to ensure that they go back to work with full awareness of back safety.

If a worker has not been taught how to safely lift, carry, bend, sit, reach, stand or drive; Injury will happen! Awareness is prevention.

If a worker has not been taught to rest or exercise the right way, there is a greater risk of injury. Non-work related injuries can "appear" at work and become a "work injury".

Awareness is responsibility.

The MOST EXPENSIVE OPTION is treatment after the injury has occurred. Rising costs of insurance, treatment and compensation have made injury PREVENTION the only sane approach in the management of work related back injury.

Back injury is the single greatest cause of worker injury, the greatest single cost. Back pain is debilitating and is more than just a pain in the...it is a critical turning point for many people who decide to change occupations rather than risk a recurrence. Retraining costs are much greater than prevention.

Invest in worker safety.

Employers that educate have a more reliable and productive workforce.
