Osteopathic and Chiropractic Services

Our practice is unique in that we provide a seamless integration of techniques from both professions...and from outside these professions if and when required. (Which is pretty-well most all of the time because people generally don't have "problems" that fit neatly into the boxes that individual professions seem to prefer.)

Our mission statement includes the promise that we "Provide the most appropriate treatment for each and every individual who comes to us for health-care". We won't charge you a consultation fee just to tell you that another type of treatment is required or that no treatment at all is necessary.

Sometimes, the best treatment is none-at-all! Dr Rest and his partner Dr Time...will take care of it.

We don't hold to a regimen of treatment programmes nor do we insist on treatment pre-payment or contracts of "care" or "family plans"...we just do what is best for you. Our practice is called Your Health MATTERS

All of our Chiropractors and Osteopaths have over 30 years in practice and each has extensive post-graduate qualifications. All hold the Nationally recognized qualification "Doctor of Chiropractic" or "Doctor of Osteopathy" and each hold registration in Queensland under the relevant State Board.

Educated, ethical, experienced and committed to quality healthcare without compromise, naturally.

Dr Pedersen has developed his "Osteo-practic" approach to healthcare through integrated structural & functional solutions.

INFORMATION ON OUR SCOPE OF PRACTICE
(Services that we provide, conditions that we treat, methods that we use)

STRUCTURAL
Whilst our main concern is the structure of the vertebral column (spine), we are thorough in our evaluation of your entire physical condition.

Our assessment includes all aspects of structure from the feet up. Inflexibility in the feet not only causes sore feet, it has repercussions throughout the body, whilst conditions such as pronation (rolling inward and flattening the arch) may not cause sore feet at all, yet can completely disrupt mechanical function throughout the rest of the body.

Your vertebral column is undoubtedly the most vital of the structural components, because it houses and protects the extension of the brain called the spinal cord. The nerves that pass from the spinal cord, through small openings in the vertebral column, carry messages to every part of the body. If you don't have proper and complete function of these nerves, your body cannot operate at 100%.

A simple example is headache...what drug do you take when you get a headache? Is the headache caused by a deficiency of that drug? Of course not! The drug is just used to "kill the pain"...but what about the cause? Most commonly it is nerve interference, frequently affecting the vertebrae in the neck, often caused by poor posture, worsened by certain activity, increased over time and decreasingly responsive to treatment by the drug. So what do you do? Get a stronger drug, of course! Or...you could alter the activity that aggrevates the posture that affects the vertebrae in the neck that irritates the nerves that cause the headache. Or...you could have a neck adjustment to "realign" the vertebrae and take the pressure off the nerve...or take valerian to relax a bit. Anyway...the headache example is just that, an example. Many conditions have commonly accepted treatments that give symptomatic relief, but they just don't get to the cause.

Our attention to the structure of your spine is not just on the bones; it includes all of the components; the muscles, ligaments and soft tissues. Similarly with the rest of the body, we consider all aspects of structural integrity, postural imbalance and exercise physiology. One definition of health that appeals to us is "Health is 100% function", and that leads us to our second area of expertise.

FUNCTIONAL
The basis of our practice is the restoration of function, pain free function, through the correction of biomechanical conditions that are the result of injury, posture or improper use. Most new patients come to us for correction of an already known, functional condition. We hear patients say, "I have back pain" or "My neck is out", and it is easy to understand that there must be an underlying functional problem.
We have patients who come to us for asthma, headaches, vertigo, digestive problems, insomnia and all manner of conditions and disorders ... and we provide the same explanation, there must be an underlying functional problem.

Our practice is health care, restoration and maintenance, and our method is biomechanical. We help you to restore function through the safe, non-surgical methods that have been proven through time and substantiated through science.

DURATION OF TREATMENT
Varies according to personal circumstances such as severity of injury, level of flexibility and over-all well-being.
Your personal treatment recommendations are discussed at the initial consultation and the expected duration of treatment is explained.
