Our logo merges the words Osteopaths & Chiropractors,
as we hold both qualifications and draw from both professions
Our practice is unique in that we provide a seamless integration of techniques from both professions...and from outside these professions if and when required. (Which is pretty-well most all of the time because people generally don't have "problems" that fit neatly into the boxes that individual professions seem to prefer.)
Our mission statement includes the promise that we "Provide the most appropriate treatment for each and every individual who comes to us for health-care". We won't charge you a consultation fee just to tell you that another type of treatment is required or that no treatment at all is necessary.
Sometimes, the best treatment is none-at-all! Dr Rest and his partner Dr Time...will take care of it.
We don't hold to a regimen of treatment programmes nor do we insist on treatment pre-payment or contracts of "care" or "family plans"...we just do what is best for you. Our practice is called Your Health MATTERS
Our Chiropractors and Osteopaths have over 30 years in practice and each has extensive post-graduate qualifications. All hold the Nationally recognized qualification "Doctor of Chiropractic" or "Doctor of Osteopathy" and each hold National Registration in Australia.
Educated, ethical, experienced and committed to quality healthcare without compromise, naturally.
Dr Pedersen has developed his "Osteo-practic" approach to healthcare through integrated structural & functional solutions.
Q. HOW DOES THIS BENEFIT PATIENTS?
A. Combining the best of both professions gives you more healthcare options without extra cost. This means faster recovery and fewer visits in most cases. If you are looking for increased wellness or prevention of future problems, our wholistic approach is for you.
We provide the 'structural' care that is exclusive to chiropractic:
Detection and correction of vertebral misalignment, attention to nerve supply interference emphasising adjustment of any spinal subluxations and thorough biomechanical (non-surgical) assessment of para-spinal health problems, this includes the pelvis, sacro-iliac joints, rib cage and occipital articulations. - (See "Chart of Effects of Spinal Misalignments")
We provide the 'functional' care for which osteopathy is best known;
Postural therapy, neuromuscular integration & gentle manipulative procedures, correction of gait, stance & body-use plus custom moulded orthotics to correct lower limb mechanics.
In Australia, the merging of chiropractic & osteopathy is quite rare, with few practitioners holding both qualifications. We believe that the clinical integration of these complimentary health practices provides the best health care outcomes for you. We have coined the term "osteo-practic", for the combination of these disciplines.
Q. WHAT DOES TREATMENT DO TO ME?
A. Since our treatment procedures are intended to change your physical structure and bring about improved function, we firstly ensure that your soft tissues are sufficiently relaxed and able to accept and adapt to the corrective changes of your spinal (or other joint) corrections (adjustments).
The techniques of massage increase circulation, improve tissue drainage and assist flexibility. The adjustments correct misalignments or restrictions in joint movement (subluxations). By these procedures we are able to reduce nerve interference and irritation, which may be the cause of aches, pains and many symptoms throughout the body.
Q. WHY IS THIS TYPE OF TREATMENT SO SUCCESSFUL?
A. Our approach to the correction of structural & functional conditions is all-inclusive; we assess total body posture from the feet up, and advise or assist changes at every stage of correction.
Flexibility and range of motion throughout the entire body is vitally important, we attend to soft tissue (muscle, tendon, ligament) problems as much as skeletal (joint) problems. We provide many different soft tissue therapies as part of our treatment program.
Q. IS THERE ANY DANGER IN THIS TYPE OF TREATMENT?
A. We take a thorough history and conduct all necessary examinations, including X-Ray if required, before we commence treatment. We also 'start slow', so that our initial treatments help us to assess your condition and we can progressively evaluate your condition without rushing into inappropriate treatment. Because of all of this care, our treatment is very safe. We occasionally see some soreness or stiffness as a result of treatment, much like the day after unaccustomed exercise. Change can be uncomfortable.
Compared to drugs or surgery, our treatment is very low risk. Compared to doing nothing, our treatment is very sensible.
